Capital City Pride brings together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community, their friends, allies and supporters. We do this by producing events and programs throughout the year that inspire, educate, commemorate, and celebrate our diverse community and culture with and for the greater Des Moines, IA metro.

Capital City Pride (CCP) over the past three years has established new events and programs focusing on community, education, family, health and celebration. The response has been amazing as CCP is one of the fastest growing Prides in the country with roughly 2500 attendees at 2017 Pride Fest to over 30,000 in 2019, and now the largest LGBTQ+ gathering in the whole state of Iowa. This was the largest Pride Fest in our organization’s 43 year history and we are no longer just a festival once a year. Instead, Capital City Pride now provides year-round programming that culminates into a year-end celebration in June. By continuing to keep the LGBTQ+ community front and center to the people in the Des Moines metro and the state of Iowa, we our showing the importance of diversity and inclusion throughout the year.
